Forensics (Düren)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The forensics (Düren) is the abbreviated name for the forensic department one of the LVR Clinic in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

In April 1986, the Rhineland Regional Council opened the “forensic village” as the institution responsible for the facility. It was created as a special facility for mentally ill offenders and its design was unique in Germany. The offenders live together in individual houses. The principle of the institution is security to the outside and freedom of movement to the inside.

Facility

There are 120 places available in the village, which is only occupied by men. 24 treatment places are housed in a further secured reception and crisis area. The other 96 places are located on six residential group wards for regular treatment.

The 5.50 m high wall surrounding the village was considered to be insurmountable and served as a model for the isolation of clinics in Germany and abroad. It was only in 2008 that two escapes overcame it for the first time.

120 doctors, nurses and psychologists work in forensics. The patients can u. a. work in a small carpenter's workshop.

The placement in the forensic village takes place within the framework of the penal system according to § 63 of the StGB .
