As a form of watches all watches and other portable clocks referred, which can be classified in any other class and not the typical round shape or the cylindrical form have the work.

The form watches therefore differ not only from other wristwatches, but also from common pocket watches . These models are very popular with watch enthusiasts because they are different from the other watches. Already the first portable clocks that are perfume boxes called pomander were built, among the form of watches. Until the middle of the 20th century, form clocks were only worn on special occasions. From the 21st century, however, these form clocks are no longer an exception. Form clocks often have a rectangular or oval design, in rare cases also in the shape of a heart, a cross or an apple. The dial is often kept in simple black and white tones and has Roman numerals as hour markers. The bracelet is made of leather or silver alloys . The movement of a form watch is also called form movement (as a movement that deviates from the round shape) because of the adaptation to the shape of the watch . Before 1914 had wristwatches usually works round, then came form works on such Tonneau - and baguette movement . In 1912 the Movado company presented a shaped watch with a corresponding shaped movement ("Polyplan", modified around 1932 as "Curviplan"), which was adapted to the curve of the wrist (most of the curved cases, however, were equipped with normal round movements). LeCoultre produced the "Duoplan" work around 1932.
