The Forsakar nature reserve ( Swedish : Naturreservatet Forsakar ) is a 750 m long and 40 m deep gorge in the northeastern part of the southern Swedish province of Skåne län and the historic province of Skåne .

The 2.5 hectare nature reserve is located in the municipality of Kristianstad near the village of Degeberga . The stream Forsakar (Swedish: Forsakarbäcken ) flows through the nature reserve from west to east and overcomes a total height of 18 m in the gorge in two individual waterfalls , 7.4 m at the upper fall (Swedish: övre falls ) and 7.4 m at the lower fall (Swedish: nedre falls ) 10.6 m. These two waterfalls are the highest individual waterfalls in Skåne, but the total height of the Hallamölla is 23 m higher.

Also in the area are three dams for the use of water power from the 19th century, which were shut down with the declaration of a nature reserve on December 28, 1928.

The vegetation is characterized by the beech forest . Alder , ash , elm and hornbeam also grow by the stream . Breeding birds include dipper , gray wagtail and the wren . You can also observe wood warbler , grosbeak , tawny owl and small woodpecker , the most common mammals in the area include mink and pine marten .

The Swedish naturalist Carl von Linné visited Forsakar on May 2, 1749.
