The Forum for Self- Determined Assistance for Disabled People ( ForseA ) is a self-help organization that supports people with disabilities in living outside of inpatient facilities even with a high need for assistance . The registered association was founded in 1997. The seat of the association is Mulfingen in Baden-Württemberg .

aims

The goals according to the statutes are:

a) To show in public that a life of self-determination for people using assistants depends to a large extent on the quality of the assistance (help) granted by society to disabled people,
b) to achieve that every handicapped person can realize the right to the assistance he needs in order to lead a life in freedom and self-determination.

Means and methods

The association is active in public relations and politically active. In various committees he advocates legislation that grants disabled people equal opportunities in all areas of life.

Campaigns (selection)

  • 1998: Street of Human Rights Violations on May 30, 1998 in Kassel together with the advocacy group Self-Determined Living
  • 2001: Disabled people on tour - for human dignity in care with 60 events in 30 cities
  • 2002: Fair assistance with 31 events
  • 2004: March out of the institutions - tear down the walls!
  • 2009: Campaign for a needs-based, income and wealth-independent law on social participation

Publications

  • The member magazine INFORUM appears quarterly and provides information on topics such as assistance , personal budgets and long-term care insurance .

Elke Bartz Prize

On the occasion of the passing of the founding chairwoman Elke Bartz, the board decided to donate the Elke Bartz Prize, which will be awarded once a year, starting in 2010, to people who have made a contribution to the self-determined life of disabled people.

  • 2010 Ilja Seifert for his services to the self-determination of disabled people
  • 2011 Silvia Schmidt for her excellent work for the rights of disabled people in terms of self-determined participation in life in the community
  • 2012 Andreas Vega for his outstanding commitment to the rights of people with disabilities
