Fort Resolution ( Deninoo Kue "moose island") is a settlement corporation in the South Slave Region in the Northwest Territories , Canada . The community is located at the confluence of the Slave River in the Great Slave Lake and at the end of the Fort Resolution Highway (Highway 6). It is the oldest documented location in the Northwest Territories. Fort Resolution held a key position on the northern water-fur trade route. The place is recognized as a national cultural heritage.

The city has an ice hockey stadium, a community hall, a retirement home, an RCMP station and two petrol stations. A small airfield, Fort Resolution Airport, offers charter flights and is used for medevac flights. The oldest building in the city is the Catholic Church, which was built in the early 19th century. Great Slave Lake Beach is the main place for swimming, bird watching, and recreation. The residents fish and hunt caribou, ptarmigan and rabbits all year round.

Nearby Pine Point was once a lead mine. When the value of lead declined in the 1980s, the mine closed and the site abandoned. Many of the homes were sold for $ 1 and rebuilt in Fort Resolution or Hay River .

“Deninu Days” in late August is a celebration of the beginning caribou hunting season with parades, games and talent competitions. A recreational opportunity is the nearby "Little Buffalo River Crossing", a territorial park with historical and natural attractions.
