The Fortress Rocks (English for fortress rocks ) are a group of low rocky outcrops on the Antarctic Ross Island . They rise half a mile north of the summit of Observation Hill on the Hut Point Peninsula .
The descriptive naming was made by participants of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott .
