Fortunato Pereira Gamba

Fortunato Pereira Gamba (* 1866 in Bogotá ; † 1936 ) was a Colombian engineer and professor.

Pereira Gamba grew up in a wealthy family and studied mining engineering ( ingeniero civil de minas ). In 1902 he founded Boletín Industrial , organ of his trading and importing company Pereira Gamba y Cia . Together with José Rafael Sañudo and Benjamín Belalcázar , he founded the Universidad de Nariño in 1904 and was appointed Rector of the Facultad de Matemáticas e Ingeniería of the Universidad de Nariño.

Pereira Gamba was convinced that Colombia's progress depends on technology; he published several books about it.
