The University of Nariño ( UDENAR for short ) is a state Colombian university in Pasto in the southern Departamento de Nariño and a member of the Association of Colombian Universities ( Asociación Colombiana de Universidades , ASCUN) and the Ibero-American university network Universia .

History and organization

The university was founded on November 7, 1904 by Julián Buchelli . In addition to numerous pregrado courses, it offers five master’s courses and a doctorate in Ciencias de la Educación ; It is also home to 70 research groups recognized by the Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (Colciencias). The headquarters of the Universidad de Nariño is in San Juan de Pasto ; the university also has facilities in Ipiales , Samaniego , Tumaco and Túquerres .

UDENAR publishes with the specialist journals Derecho Público , Revista Historia de Educación Colombiana and Tendencias articles on academic topics of the Departamento de Nariño and Colombia.

The associated Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Latinoamericanas , CEILAT, is one of the few institutions for Latin American studies in Colombia ; It is located in the University's Centro Campus (Carrera 22) and is subordinate to its “Vice-Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies” (VIPRI).
