Fotis Jannidis

Fotis Jannidis (* 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German literary scholar and computer philologist .

life and work

Jannidis obtained his doctorate in 1995 under Karl Eibl at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich on Goethe's concept of education. After receiving his habilitation in 2002, a substitute professorship at the Institute for Modern German and European Literature at the Fernuniversität Hagen and a professorship for German literature at the TU Darmstadt , he has held the chair for computer philology and modern German literary history at the Julius Maximilians University since the summer semester of 2009 In Würzburg .

His research areas include the history of the novel, literary and narrative theory , macro-analyzes of the German-language novel and stylometry . In cooperation with the Free German Hochstift in Frankfurt am Main and the Goethe-Schiller Archive in Weimar, a digital Faust edition was created under the direction of Jannidis . He is also the initiator of the BA and MA courses in Digital Humanities at the University of Würzburg.

Together with Karl Eibl he founded the yearbook for computer philology .
