FotoWorks XL is an image editing program that was specially developed for inexperienced users and digital camera owners with no prior knowledge of image editing .
Using so-called TWAIN interfaces, it is possible to read in digital images directly from the digital camera . The images can either be edited individually or entire series of images can be changed using batch processing . FotoWorks contains common graphic filters and art filters such as distortion filters or sharpness filters such as blur and unsharp masking . The red-eye effect , which can be removed with the program, is particularly undesirable in photography .
A preview image of the effect is always shown before the image processing is applied.
Functional scope and mask technologies are not in the foreground with this software , rather the focus was on user-friendliness and ergonomics . FotoWorks is therefore not to be seen as competition to programs such as Photoshop , PhotoPaint or GIMP .
It was written on the basis of the Delphi and C # programming languages and supports the Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows 7 , Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems

history
The first version arose from the idea of developing software that would be easy to use for non- computer users ; For this purpose, the German software developers Toni Ilg and Elmar Natter designed a concept with many intermediate and auxiliary steps for software operation.
After the first version was completed in May 2003, the program quickly achieved a high level of awareness. As of September 2005, the program was completely revised by several developers and made more user-friendly. The software updates , which appear several times a year, are free of charge.
