Brother Robert (real name Robert Giscard ) (* 1923 in Lyon , France ; † March 12, 1993 ) was a doctor and one of the first seven brothers of the Taizé Community .

Life

Robert Giscard came to Taizé for the first time as a medical student at Easter 1948 . After his return to Paris he decided to join the community after completing his studies and made his profession on April 17, 1949 . In the early years of the Taizé Community , Giscard practiced as a doctor in Taizé; later he took care of church music . Together with Jacques Berthier he developed the genre "Chants from Taizé". His brother Alain Giscard, an agronomist, joined the Taizé Community as eighth . Robert Giscard was a cousin of the former French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing .

Robert Giscard died in 1993 after suffering from cancer for five years.

The solos over an ostinato could be sung in all national languages ​​and the sound was also enhanced with additional voices and accompanying voices.
