The monument was created in 1955 by the Polish sculptor and medalist Józef Gosławski , but was only unveiled 14 years later on July 13, 1969 by the then Vice Minister and Minister of Art and Culture Tadeusz Zaorski . Wanda Gosławska created the base. The Brąz Dekoracyjny company was commissioned to work on the casting . The model standing for the memorial accompanied several appearances during the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw .

inspiration

In 2009 the Polish Mint Mennica Polska dedicated a medal to Józef Gosławski in its series "Famous Medalists" (Słynni medalierzy) . Hanna Jelonek designed the memorial, on the back of which the Frédéric Chopin monument is depicted. The monument also inspired the painter Piotr Pawiński to create a series of pictures.
