Winner of the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards in the category Best Film (Best Picture) . Every year in mid-December, the American Film Critics Association announces its awards for the best film productions and filmmakers of the current calendar year. As in the case of the Oscar or Golden Globe awards, these are selected from five nominees.

The most successful in this category were the American film directors Joel Coen , Spike Lee , Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg , whose films each received two awards. The film critics' association was able to present the Oscar winner eight times in advance , most recently in 2009, with the award of the award to Tödliches Kommando - The Hurt Locker , which was the first time that the work of a female director was honored.
