Winner of the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards in the category Best Director (Best Director) . Every year in mid-December, the American Film Critics Association announces its awards for the best film productions and filmmakers of the current calendar year. As in the case of the Oscar or Golden Globe awards, these are selected from five nominees.
The most successful in this category were the US directors Joel Coen , Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese , who each won the award twice. The film critics' association was able to present the Oscar winner ten times in advance , most recently in 2009, with the awarding of the award to the American Kathryn Bigelow for Tödliches Kommando - The Hurt Locker , which was the first time that the work of a director was honored.
