Sigismund Badehorn

Sigismund Badehorn (born May 21, 1585 in Großenhain ; † July 5, 1626 in Grimma ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

The son of the cloth merchant Johann Badehorn had moved into the Thomas School in Leipzig in 1600 . From 1605 he frequented the University of Leipzig , for which he received an electoral scholarship in 1606. In 1609 he completed his studies and received the degree of a Baccalaureus artium in 1607 , on January 26, 1609 the degree of a Magister artium , and in 1609 the degree of a Baccalaureus of theology. The following year the university appointed him Associate Professor of the Hebrew Language . On September 18, 1611 Badehorn was ordained in Wittenberg , as a deacon in Torgau . In Torgau he became third deacon in 1612 and second deacon in 1618. On February 18, 1622 he was appointed pastor and superintendent of Grimma. To this end, he was confirmed in Dresden on April 10th in the same year and appointed to his office on September 16th by the Leipzig Superintendent Vincentius Schmuck .

In 1612 Badehorn married Maria, the only daughter of Torgau superintendent Tobias Beuther, in Torgau . His wife survived him with a son Tobias Badehorn and their two daughters Anna Sophie Badehorn, who married the notary and lawyer Caspar Phemel in Torgau, and Anna Maria Badehorn. The latter had married the pastor Christoph Zöllner from Weidenhain in the first marriage and Andreas Anger in the second marriage in 1637.
