Frédéric Daerden (born January 11, 1970 in Montegnée ) is a Belgian politician ( Parti Socialiste ).

Life

Michel Daerden's son graduated with a degree in business and finance from the Liège Commercial College and then in business administration from the University of Liège . He then worked as a chartered accountant and lecturer at the University of Liège before he was licensed as a chartered accountant in the health insurance sector and as an auditor in the insurance sector.

Daerden became deputy chairman of the PS Liège Association in 2003 and a member of the board two years later. In 2000 he became head of the city of Herstal , and in 2006 he became mayor there. From 1999 to 2009 he was a member of the Parliament of the Walloon Region and the Parliament of the French Community , in the latter from 2004 he was Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education and Research. From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the European Parliament . In 2014 he ran for the national Chamber of Deputies in the national elections , which took place parallel to the European elections , and was elected into it. He then resigned from his European mandate.

Activities in the EU Parliament

Daerden is a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament . He is a member of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee and of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union . Daerden is a deputy in the Committee on Budgets and in the delegation in the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly .
