Frédéric Hufnagel

Frédéric Hufnagel (born August 24,  1960 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot ) is a former French basketball player .

career

Hufnagel, a 1.87 meter tall builder, was in EB Orthez's squad from 1978 to 1990 (or after the renaming, Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez) and won the Korać Cup in 1984 and French champions in 1986 and 1987 . The basketball magazine Maxi-Basket named him in 1985, 1986 and 1987 as the best French development player and in 1987 also as the best French player in the league as a whole. In the same game year 1986/87 Hufnagel was the best assists in the league.

Between 1990 and 1993 he played for Paris Basket Racing , 1993/94 for Paris-Levallois , in the 1995/96 season he was again champion with Pau-Orthez at the end of his career, but was now only a supplementary player. According to his own statements, he got an offer from Real Madrid during his career , but Hufnagel wanted to stay in Orthez.

Hufnagel was used in 102 international matches between 1981 and 1989, he took part in the European Championships in 1985, 1987 and 1989 and the 1986 World Cup.

In spring 2020, he was investigated on suspicion of fraud.
