Geir Pollestad (born August 13, 1978 in ) is a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp). Between June 2008 and September 2009 and between September 2012 and September 2013 he served as State Secretary in the Jens Stoltenberg II government . From 2009 to 2012 and again since 2013 he is a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bryne , Pollestad studied economics at Stavanger University from 1998 to 1999 . He then studied law at the University of Bergen from 1999 to 2006 . From 2006 to 2007 he worked as a lawyer before becoming political advisor in the local and regional ministries and later the ministries of oil and energy . On June 20, 2008, he was appointed State Secretary , and on October 8, 2008, he moved to the Ministry of Transport .

Pollestad competed in the 2001 , 2005 and 2009 parliamentary elections without receiving a direct mandate for the Norwegian national parliament Storting . Since his party colleague Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa was a member of the government at the time, he was a permanent member of parliament from October 2009 to June 2012. At that time he represented the constituency of Rogaland and became a member of the labor and social committee. On September 28, 2012, he was again State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, which he remained until the end of September 2013.

In the 2013 parliamentary elections , Pollestad managed to move into Storting for the first time. He first became a member of the Energy and Environment Committee before moving to the Economic Committee in April 2014 and becoming its chairman. He kept the post after the 2017 election .

From 2011 to 2019 Pollestad was also a member of Time's local parliament .
