Frösslundabäcken ( German  Frösslundabach ) is a brook on the Swedish Baltic island of Öland .

The stream is special for Öland in that it is unregulated in its lower reaches. Unlike most of the other streams on Öland, it meanders freely .

course

The stream rises from the Frösslundamossen and then flows in an easterly or north-easterly direction. It is spanned from the road connecting Norra Kvinneby with Frösslunda by an old stone arch bridge. Shortly thereafter, another small stream flows into the left. The Frösslundabäcken then passes the eastern coastal road of Öland. Here, too, there is an old stone arch bridge next to a rest area. From here the brook meanders freely in its original form until it flows into the Baltic Sea after a few kilometers .

ecology

The lower reaches from the point of crossing under the coastal road are of particular ecological interest. Moss pillows made of lime spring moss and tuffed moss stretch along the course of the stream . The area around the brook represents a swamp . Here you will find scorpion moss , orchids and rust-red copfrieds . The stream the winters dippers . Salmon trout move up the stream and spawn on stony passages. The pike is also native.
