In the early industrial park Gienanth in Winnweiler , monuments from the early days of industrialization in the Donnersberg district are grouped together. It is named after the industrial family Gienanth (French spelling Guinand ).

A geographical and historical nature trail leads to several locations where monuments can be viewed. The starting point is the iron smelter in Winnweiler-Hochstein. The educational trail with information boards was designed from an advanced course at the Wilhelm-Erb-Gymnasium in Winnweiler.

history

On the basis of regional ore discoveries and ore mining, for example in the nearby Imsbach , Nicolaus Guinand founded the Hochstein ironworks in 1742 as the parent company of this Palatinate industrial dynasty.

Later on, the Gienandt family was also active in business in Schönau and other places in the Palatinate.

Locations

The main location is the Eisenschmelz monument zone in Winnweiler-Hochstein. The manor house and workers' apartments are located here.

In Schweisweiler there is a former hammer mill that was in operation for almost the entire 19th century.

Coal burner sites in the area, which secured the energy supply, are part of the overall complex
