Spring Festival Hanover

The Hanover Spring Festival is a folk festival in Hanover that has been held annually for three weeks since 1954 in March, April or May on the Schützenplatz in Hanover . It is visited by up to around 700,000 people every year, making it Lower Saxony's largest spring festival. Like the Oktoberfest Hannover , the spring festival is organized by the “Working Group for Folk Festivals Hannover” and has nothing to do with the Schützenfest Hannover .

Fairground

At the spring festival there are around 35 rides, show and entertainment shops and a large marquee on the Schützenplatz as an event location . Access to the Spring Festival is through five large gates:

  • Brewers Gate
  • Guild Gate
  • Mansions -Tor
  • Showman Gate
  • Hannöversch Gate

Course of the Spring Festival

The Spring Festival begins on the Saturday before Easter Sunday and runs for three weeks. The family day is held every Wednesday, on which there are usually discounts of up to 50%. The family day program includes face painting, the children's flea market and the puppet theater. A fireworks display is held on Fridays, and there is a backstage tour of the fairground and the Herrenhausen skat tournament on each festival day. In 2015, the Lower Saxony eSkate Championship was held at the Spring Festival.

gastronomy

There is a large festival hall, five smaller tent systems and several stalls, stands and small beer gardens on the fairground. The festival hall has a capacity of around 1,500 people. Mainly the traditional Hanoverian beers Gilde and Herrenhäuser are served on the festival site. The marquees :

  • Festhalle Ahrend: disco tent with charts, hit classics and GoGo shows
  • Small marquees: u. a. Tino's beer pub, Vorlops specialty grill, Tyrolean village and Böttichers Altes Landhaus

Trunk rides

Roller coaster

There are at least two roller coasters at the Spring Festival. For decades, the Rock & Roller Coaster (until 2010 Die Wild 50er and until 1997 Super-8-Bahn ) has been at the festival almost every year. At the beginning of the 2000s, Katz & Maus was predominantly represented alongside this run . In 2008 the High Explosive made its comeback premiere. In 2014, the family rollercoaster Crazy Jungle also celebrated its premiere at the Spring Festival. Otherwise, there were also tracks like Black Hole , Crazy Mouse , Euro Coaster , Feuer + Eis , Mexico City , Speedy or Willy the Worm at the Spring Festival.

Bumper cars

Between 2009 and 2016, there were three bumper cars at the Spring Festival every year. There have been four since then, including the Cadillac , the Drive In , the Music Hall and the Top In .

Breakdance

With the exception of 2004 and 2014, this type of ride is regularly at the Spring Festival.

Ghost train

The most common representatives include The Great Ghost Train and Dracula Castle . Otherwise, the ghost cave , the ghost town or the haunted castle were also at the spring festival.

Music Express

Annually at the spring festival the hot wheels , which is a unique specimen of the Musik Express type. Between 2014 and 2016, there were two such rides at the festival.

Nightstyle

With the exception of 2014 and 2016, this type of ride is regularly at the Spring Festival.

Ferris wheel

Every year there is a 50 meter high Ferris wheel at the Spring Festival, which has 36 gondolas and can accommodate 216 people.

Sleigh ride

Such an amusement ride is also represented at the Spring Festival every year. The Petersburg sleigh ride took place several times at the festival and in 2011 the American Swing took place for the first time at the Spring Festival.

simulator

Almost every year there is a simulator at the Spring Festival. The U-3000 and the Adventure Shuttle are most common at the festival. The Time Visitor was represented at the festival for the first time in 2012, the Fantastical Trip in 2014 , the 7-D cinema in 2017 and the "360 Degree Adventure Simulator" in 2019.

Wave flight

At the Spring Festival there is an annual wave flight that provides 48 seats.

Flume

With the exception of 2009, 2010, 2017 and 2019, there is a regular flume at the Spring Festival. Traces of Manitus or Poseidon are most common . In 2018 the "big water ride" was at the festival for the first time.
