Frailea amerhauseri is a species of plant in the genus Frailea from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Frailea amerhauseri usually grows sprouting with depressed spherical to spherical, green bodies. The bodies reach a diameter of 2 to 4 centimeters. The 16 to 22 (rarely up to 26) ribs are flat and indistinctly divided into cusps. The small areoles on it are a little white wool. The whitish thorns are bristly. The central spine is up to 6 millimeters long, the 9 to 12 radial spines 3 to 4 millimeters long.

The lemon-yellow flowers have a red throat and are funnel-shaped. They are up to 3.5 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 5 centimeters. The more or less spherical fruits are about 7 millimeters long. The hat-shaped seeds contained therein are maroon brown and slightly shiny. The seeds are 1.5 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide.

Distribution and systematics

Frailea amerhauseri is widespread in Bolivia in the lowlands of the Santa Cruz department at altitudes of 380 meters. where it grows between stones. The first valid description was published in 2002 by Karl-Heinz Prestlé .
