François-Josèphe Kinson
François-Josèphe Kinson , Dutch: Franciscus Josephus Kinsoen (born February 28, 1771 in Bruges , then the Austrian Netherlands , now Belgium ; † October 18, 1839 there ) was a Flemish painter.
Life
Kinson was born as Franciscus Josephus Kinsoen in Bruges and grew up there. He received an artistic training in Bruges and gained some fame in Ghent and Brussels . After an exhibition in Paris in 1799, he was a sought-after painter for the celebrities and wealthy of the early years of 19th century Paris. He worked for the court of the emperor Napoleon and followed his brother Jérôme Bonaparte , the king of Westphalia , to his court in Kassel .
After his escape from Kassel in 1813, Kinson returned to Paris, where he portrayed Russian aristocrats , among others , was a popular painter of women until his death and worked at the royal court .
Kinsoen died in 1839 while visiting his native town.
