François Du Puy

François Du Puy (also François Dupuis or François Dupuy, Latin: Francisco de Puteo ) (* 1450 in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château ; † September 15, 1521 in the Grande Chartreuse ) was a French jurist , canon , clergyman, monk and Late Middle Ages humanist . He was canon of Notre-Dame and Saint-Pierre lès Valence and between 1488 and 1500 under Laurent Alleman Vicar General of Grenoble . In 1500 he entered the Grande Chartreuse and in 1503 became prior of the Charterhouse and thus General Minister of the Carthusian Order .

Born to Pierre du Puy, he studied law and received his doctorate in law .

Du Puy was the postulator at the beatification of Saint Bruno , the founder of the Carthusian Order . For this he wrote a biography.
