François Queyrel

François Queyrel is a French classical archaeologist.

Life

The former student of the École normal supérieure (Paris) aggregated in 1980 in ancient literature. He was a member of the École française d'Athènes from 1981 to 1985. In Sainte-Marie de Neuilly, Khâgne teaches and then ancient history as a lecturer at the University of Paris IV from 1988 to 1994. In 1994 he became director of the study of Greek archeology appointed at the École pratique des hautes études .

He received a doctorate from the University of Paris IV in 1984 and completed his habilitation in 1998. Since 2004 he has been a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute . From January to April 1999 he was a member of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study (School for Historical Studies).

In collaboration with Lorenz Baumer, he designed a collection of scientific book reviews in art and archeology called Histara . His research interests are ancient portraits of the Hellenistic period, Hellenistic sculpture, archeology and photography.
