François Rebel
François Rebel (born June 19, 1701 in Paris , † November 7, 1775 in Paris) was a French violinist and composer .
Life
Born into a musical family as the son of Jean-Féry Rebel , he was a member of the Vingt-quatre Violons du Roy like his father . In 1742 he was director of the Concert Spirituel . In 1749 he was appointed Oberintendent of Music and from 1757 to 1767 he directed the “Académie Royale de Musique” (Opera) in Paris, together with his friend François Francœur . From 1772 to 1773 he took over the management alone.
He composed mainly religious music and several operas in collaboration with Francœur .
