Frances Magnus

Frances Magnus (born March 25, 1882 in Glauchau , † April 9, 1969 in Munich ; maiden name: Freiin Frances von Hausen ) was a German politician , author and editor . She represented the German People's Party (DVP) in the Reichstag .

Life

Freiin von Hausen received private tuition, after which she attended the daughter's school in Dresden and the Luisenstift in Niederlößnitz . In 1909 she passed the Abitur and began studying in Freiburg, Bonn and Paris. They received his doctorate in 1914 for Dr. phil. in the subjects of history and political science.

During the First World War she was u. a. active as an auxiliary sister. After the war she became politically active. She published several writings against the Peace of Versailles , worked on the publication German State and German Parties , the 1922 Festschrift for Friedrich Meinecke . In the period from 1933 to 1944 she also appeared alongside Gertrud Bäumer as co-editor of the magazine Die Frau .

In the second electoral term in 1924 , she was elected to the German Reichstag for the DVP in constituency 12 (Thuringia). She only represented the party there for one term and then withdrew into private life.

After her marriage she lived in Jena . She was married to the surgeon Georg Magnus (1883–1942). They had three children: Maria, art historian (born 1917), Peter, surgeon (born 1921), and Dietrich, general practitioner (born 1925).
