Francesco Gabriele Frola (* 1992 in Aosta ) is an Italian ballet dancer .

Life

Frola received his first dance lessons at the “Professione Danza” ballet school in Parma . Here he danced James in 2007 at a school performance of the romantic ballet pantomine La Sylphide . Before that, he had already been named best dancer at the Grand Prix Pavlova in 2003 and 2006.

John Neumeier and Marianne Kruuse noticed him at the Prix ​​de Lausanne 2008 . They offered him a place in the ballet school of the Hamburg Ballet run by Neumeier and supported him with a partial scholarship. He then continued his training at this institute and at the Fomento Artistico Cordobés in Mexico since August 2008.

In 2009 Frola took over the dance role of Tadzio in Benjamin Britten's opera Death in Venice at the Hamburg State Opera , which was staged by Ramin Gray and conducted by Simone Young . He has received several praise for his dance performance in this production.

In 2010 Frola won third prize at the International Ballet Competition in Cuba. That year he went to the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto as RBS Apprentice and was inducted into the Corps de ballet in 2012. In 2012, Frola took part in the 7th Helsinki International Ballet Competition in the junior category (15–19 years) and won the € 2,500 second prize and an award for her own choreography.

In 2018 Frola was invited to the 44th Nijinsky Gala in Hamburg. Since this year he has been Principal Dancer with the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto and also Principal Dancer with the English National Ballet in London.
