Francesco Malipiero

Francesco Malipiero (* 1824 in Rovigo ; † 1887 ) was an Italian opera composer.

Life

Little is known about Malipiero's living conditions; he was kept in consciousness primarily as Gian Francesco Malipiero's grandfather . At the age of 18 he composed his first opera Giovanna I, regina di Napoli , which was performed at the Teatro Nuovo in Padua. It was performed en suite twenty-four times at the Bologna Opera House. Gioacchino Rossini arranged for his admission to the city's Accademia Filarmonica .

1846 was performed in a benefit event at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice next to Giuseppe Verdi's opera Attila under the direction of the composer Malipieri's Sinfonia a Grande Orchestra . In 1846 Catherine Hayes sang the world premiere of his opera Alberigo da Romano here . With the opera Fernando Cortez in 1852 at La Fenice he could not assert himself alongside Verdi's Rigoletto . His fourth opera is Ildegonda di Borgogna (also under the title Attila ).

Malipiero's son was the pianist and conductor Luigi Malipiero .
