Francesco Marcolini

Francesco Marcolini (also Francesco Marcolini da Forli ; * around 1500 in Forlì ; † 1559 in Venice ) was a Venetian book printer and die cutter.

Life

Marcolini trained as a printer in Venice , where he became self-employed from 1535. He was friends with Titian and Pietro Aretino , whose work "La cortigiana" he published as his first book. Although he also with the printing of music experimented, he focused on the writings of contemporary Italian authors, among them Anton Francesco Doni and the architectural theorist Sebastiano Serlio .
