Francesco Pastonchi
Francesco Pastonchi (born December 31, 1874 in Riva Ligure , † December 29, 1953 in Turin ) was an Italian poet, journalist and Italianist.
life and work
Pastonchi grew up in Turin, studied there with Arturo Graf and became a celebrated (now forgotten) poet and literary critic (for the daily Corriere della Sera ). In 1935, on the basis of his public prestige ("per chiara fama"), he was appointed to the chair of Italian language and literature at the University of Turin as successor to Vittorio Cian , where he was succeeded in 1948 by Giovanni Getto .
