Francesco Ubertini
Francesco Ubertini , called Bachiacca , (* 1494 in Borgo San Lorenzo , † 1557 in Florence ) was an Italian Renaissance painter .
Life
Bachiacca was the son of the goldsmith Francesco Ubertini Bachiacca. He was apprenticed to the painter Perugino , who had a strong stylistic influence on him in his early days. Bachiacca was also based on other models of his time, such as Albrecht Dürer , Piero di Cosimo and Andrea del Sarto . The panels from the life of Joseph (1515–1518) are among his youthful works.
He spent a few years in Rome making a number of drawings of flora and fauna from around the city. In 1540 he returned to Florence to work at the court of Cosimo I de 'Medici . Here he also took care of the decorative furnishings of the Palazzo Vecchio ; he designed seasonal tapestries that are now on display in the corridors of the Uffizi .
Bachiacca was also a master of chest painting and small figures. He painted cabinets, furniture and other facilities in the town houses. He copied works by Fra Bartolomeo , Andrea del Sarto, Dürer, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo . In the last years of his life he created his best works, including, for example, Christ before Caïfa (1539/40) or the portrait of Cardinal Leopoldo (1540/45).
