Francesco Zerilli , also Zerillo , (born 1793 in Palermo ; died 1837 there ) was an Italian painter of classicism in Sicily .

Life

Zerilli was a student of Giuseppe Patania . He drew and pricked and painted mainly views of Palermo and the other classic places in Sicily in the style of a Hackert . The small-format tempera and gouaches on paper were painted for sale to the noble and upper-class Europeans who made a detour to Sicily on their Grand Tour .

Zerilli had his studio near the Porta Felice . He died in the European cholera epidemic in 1837 .
