Francis Joseph Steingass

Francis Joseph Steingass (born March 16, 1825 , died January 1903 ) was a Frankfurt- born British linguist of German-Jewish descent. He completed his academic training in Munich , where he also received his doctorate. He was later professor of modern languages ​​in Birmingham , and later at the Orient Institute in Woking . He mastered 14 languages ​​including Arabic, Farsi and Sanskrit and also published numerous dictionaries.
