Francisco Antonino Vidal Silva (* 1827 in San Carlos ; † 1889 Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan politician and doctor .

Vidal, who had studied medicine in Paris, first held a ministerial office in 1865 and was given dictatorial powers by Venancio Flores during the Triple Alliance War against Paraguay . He was also an MP and Senator. In 1870 he took over temporarily the leadership of the state instead of Lorenzo Batlle and later twice from Lorenzo Latorre . The first takeover of the official business of Latorre took place between February 14, 1879 and March 1, 1879. After Latorre's resignation in 1880, it became the Colorado PartidoVidal members were then elected President of Uruguay by the General Assembly, the Asamblea General, on March 16, 1880 for the period up to March 1, 1883 , after having taken over the position of Latorres for the second time on March 15 . However, Vidal then resigned on February 28, 1882, a year before the end of his term in office, to end the constitutional period. The General Assembly then elected Máximo Santos as his successor for a period of four years. On March 1, 1886, Vidal was again elected as constitutional president of Uruguay. He also ended this four-year term prematurely when he resigned from his position on May 24, 1886 just a few weeks after his election. He ended his political career as a member of parliament for Paysandú .
