Francisco Díaz de León

Francisco Díaz de León (born September 24, 1897 in Aguascalientes , Mexico , † December 29, 1975 in Mexico City , Mexico) was a Mexican graphic artist and in 1968 one of the founding members of the Academia de Artes .

Life

Díaz de León studied from 1917 at the Academia de San Carlos and attended the open-air painting school of Santa Anita in Chimalistac . With his work and techniques he is one of the pioneers of modern art graphics in Mexico. He used the methods of drypoint , etching , wood and aquatint techniques. He was also a successful university lecturer. With his conceptual work for the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) he laid the foundation stone for the foundation of the graphic school Escuela de Artes del Libro .
