Life

He was a member of the Asamblea General Constituyente y Legislativa del Estado , which drafted the first Uruguayan constitution between 1828 and 1830.

Then he had from the beginning of the first legislative period on October 19, 1830 to March 12, 1833 a mandate for the Department of Montevideo in the Cámara de Representantes . In the same year he took over the management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time for two and a half months (October 9 - December 20, 1833). This term of office was to be followed by two more later. First, however, at the beginning of the second legislative period, from February 15, 1834, he held a senatorial office in the Cámara de Senadores for the Department of Colonia . However, he resigned this prematurely on the day he took up the post of Foreign Minister on March 4, 1835. As a result, he headed the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry until October 15 of the same year, and finally served his longest and last term in this function again between November 16, 1835 and March 27, 1837.
