Francisco Pignatari

Francisco "Baby" Matarazzo Pignatari (born February 11, 1916 in Naples , Italy , † October 27, 1977 in São Paulo , Brazil ) was a Brazilian entrepreneur and playboy .

Life

Pignatari was born in Naples in 1916. His mother was a daughter of the Italian Count Francesco Matarazzo , who founded Brazil's richest industrial dynasty. His father was an ophthalmologist and later ran a small steel mill in Brazil.

In 1937, at the age of 20, Pignatari took over his father's steel business himself. Within six years he increased the number of employees from 400 to 10,000. In 1950 he was one of the 20 richest men in Brazil.

Pignatari has had a variety of affairs with well-known Hollywood actresses. He was married several times: to Marina Parodi Delfino (1940–1947), Nelita Alves de Lima (1950–1957), Ira von Fürstenberg (1961–1964) and Maria Regina Fernandes (1971–1977).
