Franco Lini

Franco Lini (* 1925 in Mantua ; † 1997 ) was an Italian journalist and 1967 team boss of Scuderia Ferrari .

Life

After Eugenio Dragoni was dismissed from Enzo Ferrari as team manager at Scuderia at the end of 1966 , Franco Lini took over the position of team manager for a year. Lini's job was not only to lead the racing team, he also made sure that communication with the media was improved. The Dragoni era was marked by constant conflicts with the Italian press, which almost escalated in the last two years of its activity. Lini, who worked as a journalist for the French sports daily L'Équipe and for AutoItaliana , again created a calm media climate through his good contacts.

In terms of sport, the balance sheet remained divided. In Formula 1 , Scuderia not only remained without a win, but also lost Lorenzo Bandini , who was killed in a fire accident in a Ferrari 312F1 at the Monaco race .

Under Lini's leadership, however, the Scuderia narrowly won the sports car world championship in the overall standings. In the end, Ferrari was one point ahead of Ford .
