Franco Mallia (* 1961) is an Italian astronomer and asteroid discoverer.
Between 1998 and 2005 he discovered a total of 11 asteroids at the Campo Catino Observatory , sometimes together with colleagues.
On November 12, 2004, together with Gianluca Masi and Roger Wilcox , he succeeded in proving that the asteroid, recently discovered by Robert McNaught under the name 2004 TU12 , is actually a periodic comet .
The asteroid (21685) Francomallia has been named after him since 2001.
