Alain Maury (* 1958 in Lorraine near Nancy ) is a French astronomer and asteroid discoverer.
In the period from 1980 to 1990 he discovered a total of 9 asteroids , some of them while participating in the OCA-DLR Asteroid Survey (ODAS).
He is also the discoverer of the periodic comet 115P / Maury and the co-discoverer of the non-periodic comet C / 1988 C1 (Maury-Phinney).
Since 2003 he and his wife Alejandra have been running their own observatory in Ayllu Solor in the oasis of San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile . There the two offer introductory courses for visitors.
Honors
The asteroid (3780) Maury was named after him.
