(21685) Francomallia is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 11, 1999 by the Italian amateur astronomer Gianluca Masi at the Osservatorio Astronomico Bellatrix ( observatory code 470) in Ceccano .

The asteroid is named after the Italian amateur astronomer Franco Mallia (* 1961), who has worked at the Campo Catino Observatory since 1974 , where he is dedicated to popularizing astronomy .
