Franco Romero , full name Franco Gastón Romero Ponte , (born February 11, 1995 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.85 meter tall defensive player Romero has been part of the squad of the first division Racing Club de Montevideo since the 2013/14 season . He made his debut with the Montevideeans under coach Pablo Alonso on March 22, 2015 in a 2-1 home win against the Montevideo Wanderers with a starting eleven in the Primera División . In the 2014/15 season he played a total of six top division games (no goal). 18 more first division appearances (one goal) followed in the 2015/16 season. During the 2016 season he played in three top division games (no goal).

National team

Romero was invited to the Uruguayan U-20 team in March 2014 by coach Fabián Coito . In the U-20 he made his debut on April 17, 2014 in a 1-1 draw against Chile with a starting eleven. Also in the international matches on May 20, 2014 and June 10, 2014 against Paraguay, as well as against Peru on September 24, 2014 and against Mexico on October 8, 2014. he was used. Until then, he had not scored an international goal.
