Frank-Olaf Schreyer

Frank-Olaf Schreyer is a German mathematician who studies algebraic geometry and algorithmic algebraic geometry.

Schreyer received his doctorate in 1983 from Brandeis University under David Eisenbud (Syzygies of Curves with Special Pencils) . He was a professor at the University of Bayreuth and has been a professor at the University of Saarland since 2002 .

He is involved in the expansion of (algorithmic) algebraic geometry and especially the syzygy theory , which goes back to David Hilbert , and developed algorithms for the computation of syzygies, promoted by his doctoral supervisor David Eisenbud .

He is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society . In 2010 he was invited speaker at the ICM in Hyderabad (India) .
