Frank Atkinson (born April 12, 1903 in Willington Quay , † 1977 ) was an English football player .

Career

Atkinson played for Rosehill Villa , a club from Willington Quay , with whom he won the Northern Amateur League and in May 1924 the Tynemouth Infirmary Minor Cup . Because of his achievements, he was committed to South Shields in July 1924 at the age of 21 . Atkinson played his first two league games for the South Shields first team in the Football League Second Division in March 1926 as a defender alongside Mick Ridley . After another use, a 2: 7 defeat against Nottingham Forest in September 1927, he was on the transfer list in December 1927 and moved north to the Scottish club FC Dundee in February 1928, but for which he did not play in the first team came.

Later Atkinson was still active with Scunthorpe & Lindsey United in the Midland League . As a result he was active at Accrington Stanley , in June 1931 he was looking for a new club in the Athletic News by means of an advertisement. At the beginning of the 1931/32 season he was under contract with Barnsley FC , but competitive games for the first team are not documented. From the beginning of 1932 Atkinson was active with FC Macclesfield in the Cheshire County League and played ten competitive games until the end of the season.
