Frank Berendt

Frank Berendt (* 1964 in Leipzig) is a contemporary German painter and video artist . He is considered a representative of the New Leipzig School .

Life

From 1988 to 1993 he studied painting and graphics at the University of Graphic and Book Art Leipzig (HGB) with Arno Rink . He received the diploma with distinction in 1993. From 1993 to 1995 he was a master student in video art with Ralf Urban Bühler in Leipzig . In 1994/1995 he received a graduate scholarship from the state of Saxony. From 1988 to 1995 Berendt was a member of the performer group The Oval Language (sounds, installations, performances and environments). He is an ordained Zen monk (Soto) under Ludger Tenryu Tenbreul . He is also a martial arts teacher and holder of the 5th Dan Shotokan Karate . Frank Berendt lives and works as a freelance artist in Leipzig .

His works are represented in the Deutsche Bank Collection , the Sächsische Kunstsammlungen Dresden , the art collection of the Sparkasse Leipzig, the VNG (Verbundnetz Gas) - Art Collection, and the painting collection of the Angermuseum Erfurt.
