Arno Rink
Arno Rink (born September 26, 1940 in Schlotheim ; † September 5, 2017 in Leipzig ) was a German painter , university professor and rector at the Leipzig University of Art and Graphics .
Life
From 1955 to 1958 Arno Rink attended high school in Mühlhausen / Thuringia and made his first attempts at drawing. He then began studying art at the Dresden Workers and Farmers Faculty .
In 1961 he applied for the first time to the University of Graphic and Book Art Leipzig (HGB), but was rejected there. Arno Rink worked temporarily in the Leipzig wool combing as an elevator operator and lizard driver . After a second application attempt, he began studying at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig in 1962 and completed his undergraduate studies with Werner Tübke , Hans Mayer-Foreyt and Harry Blume . In 1967 he completed his studies in Bernhard Heisig's specialist class and then worked as a freelancer in Leipzig.
In 1969 Arno Rink initially worked as an aspirant with Gerhard Eichhorn (graphics) at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig, took up teaching himself in 1972 and was given a lectureship in 1975. a. to the Soviet Union , Italy , India , Cuba and several times in what was then the Federal Republic of Germany .
From 1978 to 2005 he took over the management of the specialist class for painting and graphics, was appointed professor in 1979 and held the post of rector at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art from 1987 to 1994 . Arno Rink then worked as Vice Rector until 1997 before he retired in 2005. He continued the master class until 2007.
Arno Rink lived and worked in Leipzig-Schleußig . His urn was buried in the south cemetery in Leipzig .
style
Rink's style of painting is described as largely figurative, with elements of socialist realism initially and later surrealism predominating in his works. He was initially influenced by Werner Tübke and is considered a pioneer and teacher of the so-called New Leipzig School , whose student Neo Rauch is one of the best-known representatives .
