Frank Fischer (canoeist)

Frank Fischer (* 1960 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a German canoeist and multiple world champion in canoe racing . He won nine medals at the Canoe Racing World Championships between 1981 and 1986, four of which were gold, three silver and two bronze. He started for the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam and won several GDR championship titles for his club.

He could not take part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of the boycott of the GDR. In the same year he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. He also received this medal in 1986.

family

Fischer is married to the 1980 Olympic swimming champion, Sarina Hülsenbeck . His daughter Fanny and his sister Birgit are also successful canoeists and have both been multiple Olympic champions.

Fischer ran a canoe business with his former teammate André Wohllebe .
