Frank Hinman Waskey
Frank Hinman Waskey (born April 20, 1875 in Lake City , Wabasha County , Minnesota , † January 18, 1964 in Oakville , Washington ) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1907 he was the first delegate to represent the Alaska Territory in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Frank Waskey attended public schools in his home town of Minnesota and moved to Nome , Alaska , in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush . There he became director of a mining company, director of a bank and head of a publishing house.
Waskey became a member of the Democratic Party . Between August 14, 1906 and March 3, 1907, he was the first delegate to represent the Alaska Territory in the US House of Representatives. He decided not to run again. Then he digged for natural resources and traded in fur. He also sold curios. In 1956 he moved to Oakville, Washington State, where he died in 1964.
