Frank Kastner (born November 29, 1969 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Frank Kastner came to Karlsruher SC in 1987 through the youth teams of FC Spöck, a club in Östringen , and FC Olympia Kirrlach . On April 9, 1988, the 24th matchday, the 18-year-old Kastner came to his first Bundesliga appearance. In the following two seasons, KSC trainer Winfried Schäfer used the player more often. So he came to a total of 30 Bundesliga games for KSC by 1990 (one goal). In 1990 he played in the German Olympic team and came on two missions. In November 1990 he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim , which was relegated to the second division. At SVW he played 10 times under coach Günter Sebert . After the season he left the Waldhof and went to Austria to Vorwärts Steyr . For Steyr he was on the ball 23 times in the first division. At the beginning of the following season Kastner trained to stay physically fit, but did not play a point game during this time. In the winter of 1992/93 he finally moved to the upper division SSV Reutlingen . In 1994 the SSV qualified for the newly introduced third-class regional league. In 1996 he went to Kickers Offenbach , with whom he rose in his first season from the Oberliga Hessen to the Regionalliga Süd. In 1999 he returned to SSV Reutlingen, where he ended his career in 2000.
Kastner played mainly as a man-decker or libero. Kastner already worked as an insurance broker during his active time as a footballer.
